Forbeyon's December Photographer of the Month - Erin Woolsey

Name: Erin Woolsey

Studio:  EE Photography

Website:  www.ee-photography.com

Blog:  eephotography.squarespace.com

How long have you been a photographer?

3 years full time plus 4 years part time

Camera that you use

Canon 5d Mark II

Your favorite lens

50mm f/1.2

What aspects of photography do you enjoy most?

I really enjoy meeting new clients and getting to experience such happy moments with people.

Besides loving photography, what other hobbies do you have? What are you passionate about?

I love, LOVE to read. I also like to try and learn new skills. For instance, I like to try and make my own clothes (often they turn out rather unique), I love painting with watercolors, drawing with ink, and whenever I have time I go flea market shopping.

If you weren’t a photographer what would you be?

I used to be a counselor and I still actually keep up with my license, so I would probably go back to that. Or, perhaps I would go to school and learn welding and woodworking to design quirky furniture. Oh what a dream!

What inspired you to use Forbeyon?

Most important to me is the process of ordering the album online. It’s very common sense and user friendly. Also, it helps that the albums are stunning, the customer service is top notch, and a huge variety of products are offered.

Can you tell us about your Forbeyon experiences?

Whenever I first switched to Forbeyon I was still new and made about 5 mistakes per album. Nonetheless, the customer service people were always extremely helpful fixing everything and never once showed their frustration. That patience was so encouraging, and I still never feel reluctant to call about anything.

How do Forbeyon albums compare to others you've seen or used?

The quality is fantastic and the products they use are beautiful. Also, I’ve never had to send back an album, they always meet my expectations.

As a photographer, what is your most important objective when shooting?

I try and capture the couple’s personalities and show how they love each other.

How do you prepare for your events?

I get inspiration from Pinterest! Also, I drive around, get lost, and find great new locations for shooting.

What do you do during a session’s "downtime"?

Tell corny jokes. What do you get when you cross an elephant and Darth Vader? An elevator. Golden.

What do you consider to be your greatest photographic achievements?

I find it an honor that people would ask me to photograph their wedding. It’s one of the biggest moments of someone’s life, and to have me be apart of it is a big deal :D. I feel so blessed whenever I get those emails, “I want you to be my photographer.” It always puts a huge smile on my face.

Forbeyon's September Photographer of the Month - Jacqueline Photography

Name: Jackie Willard

Studio: Jacqueline Photography

Website: www.jacquelinephotography.net

Blog: www.jacquelinephotographyblog.net

How long have you been a photographer?

9 years

Camera that you use:

Canon 5D Mark II

Your favorite lens:

50mm 1.2 and soon to be 85mm 1.2

What aspects of photography do you enjoy most?

I love LOVE and being able to document that love from the engagement, to the wedding and then when the family grows by one (or two sometimes).

How do you define your style?

I would say my style is fun and romantic.  I love candids and those in between moments when my subjects have no idea I’m snapping pictures.

Besides loving photography, what other hobbies do you have?

What are you passionate about?  I LOVE animals, if I could I would adopt every single homeless animal and give them the best life.  I really strive to find ways I can use my art to help animals in need find a home.

If you weren’t a photographer what would you be?

If I wasn’t a photographer I would probably be lost.  I knew I wanted to be a photographer since I was 12, so when I went off to college I told my parents that and they were like “ummm, no, we aren’t going to support you forever, you need to get a REAL job.”  So I tried the real job thing and hated it.  Photography has been the only thing in my life that I really feel I was born to do.

How did you learn about Forbeyon?

From a fellow photographer and WPPI

What inspired you to use Forbeyon?

I was really impressed with the cover options and quality of pages.  Plus they are not overly expensive, which is key!

Can you tell us about your Forbeyon experiences?

It has always been a positive experience.  Anytime I need help or have crazy questions someone is always so helpful.  When I visited the Forbeyon booth at WPPI I was extremely impressed that the guy in the booth knew who I was and could recall the type of albums I order!

How has Forbeyon albums helped your business?

My wedding couples love, love, love their albums!  I am always told that my albums are not like most in my area, just better quality and gorgeous.  My clients get super excited about their Forbeyon albums!

What advice would you give to the first time buyers of Forbeyon albums?

I highly recommend ordering a few sample albums.  Once you go Forbeyon you’ll never look back!

How would you describe the products you receive from Forbeyon?

I get so excited when I receive my albums!  They are always so beautiful and perfect and I can guarantee my clients are going to get a great album that will last a long time.

How do Forbeyon albums compare to others you've seen or used?

After my first Forbeyon album I received I was in love and ditched my previous album company who would constantly have errors in my layouts and would take 3 months to ship me the album.  When I learned that Forbeyon takes 2-4 weeks I was instantly hooked!

As a photographer, what is your most important objective when shooting?

To capture my subject’s personalities and the love they feel along with the excitement of their day.

How long have you been a photographer?

I assisted other photographers for several years, and have had my own business for 3 years now.

Camera that you use

Nikon D700

Your favorite lens

50mm 1.8, then my 85mm 1.4

What aspects of photography do you enjoy most?

Definitely the people I get to work with. Getting to document part of their history is such an honor for me. I love knowing that I am photographing their stories, and in doing so, writing a portion of mine.

How do you define your style?

Genuine, textural, and relaxed.

Besides loving photography, what other hobbies do you have?

What are you passionate about? I love to travel, knit, drink coffee, and be with those I love. Pretty simple.

If you weren’t a photographer what would you be?

Oh, so many things! A missionary, the next Martha Stewart, an Etsy seller, a realtor, one fantastic homemaker. I still plan on doing all of these. :)

Please tell us about your banner image

I love this moment. It had been a super hot, Fourth of July wedding west of Dallas. All of the formalities were over and the bride + groom had just walked down the aisle for their first time as a married couple. Someone tossed the groom a bottle of champagne, and the celebration began!

Please tell us about your favorite images

Most of my favorite images are connected to the experience of the photoshoot- funny moments, finding a beautifully lit location, talking with my clients, experiencing their emotions as they live out their wedding day. I love anything with a good bit of color, texture, and pretty light.

How did you learn about Forbeyon?

I believe it was through Kelly Moore.

What inspired you to use Forbeyon?

Forbeyon has an excellent variety of styles and quality materials. I was excited to work with a company that gave me elegant options and would guarantee my clients a high-end product.

Can you tell us about your Forbeyon experiences?

Forbeyon has consistently guaranteed that my albums are perfect to the extent that they look out for and correct all of my ordering mistakes. :) They’ve also been fantastic at communication- I can’t say enough about their customer service.

How has Forbeyon albums helped your business?

I love offering Forbeyon albums to my clients, and they are always the books that are ooohed and aaaahed over most. I’m always excited to deliver a Forbeyon album because I know that it’s the perfect way to display my work.

What advice would you give to the first time buyers of Forbeyon albums?

Select materials and styles that truly define your style as a photographer. Your clients need to be shown what will compliment your work best.

How would you describe the products you receive from Forbeyon?

Beautiful! I love seeing the brushed metal cameos and the gorgeous leathers. The albums are always clean and well-made, and packaged with care.

How do Forbeyon albums compare to others you've seen or used?

There’s not much comparison- faster turnaround, more options, easier ordering, and better customer service.

If you could create your ultimate album, what would it look like?

1 image per page. Big, beautiful images. A simple, clean cover with a G4 leather.

How do you sell albums?

My clients are given a credit in their package that they typically use toward an album. After finalizing the design of the spreads, we work on the cover and style of the book.

As a photographer, what is your most important objective when shooting?

Make beautiful pictures for my clients. It’s what they’ve hired me to do! I also want to make sure that they are having a fantastic experience.

How do prepare for your events?

I make lots of lists, double check equipment, and pray.

What was/is your most memorable photographic session or event? What made it so?

Oh, my job has brought me so many great experiences! I honestly can’t say that one has stood out more so than the others. I leave every shoot feeling that I’ve been taught something, and so blessed to have the job that I do!

What do you do during the session’s "downtime"?

Haha! What is downtime?!? If there is any type of break, I am most likely talking. Or eating. One of those. :)
